Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Add the milk, softened butter, vanilla extract, and eggs to the dry mixture. Stir together until smooth and lump-free.
- Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans. Divide the batter evenly between the pans.
Baking
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the cakes cool in the pans for about 10 minutes, then turn them out onto wire racks to cool completely.
Serving
- Frost with your favorite frosting once completely cooled.
Notes
Do not skip the cooling step to avoid frosting disaster! You can add chocolate chips or nuts for extra texture, and store leftovers in an airtight container for up to three days.
