  • 1 cup 1 cup buttermilk can substitute with milk and lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg for a cozy aroma

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. If using a store-bought pie crust, place it in your pie dish. If making your own, prepare it as desired.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the sugar and flour. Whisk them together.
  4. Add the eggs and beat until well combined.
  5. Pour in the buttermilk, vanilla extract, and salt, and mix well. Sprinkle in the nutmeg and stir gently.
Baking
  1. Transfer the buttermilk filling into the prepared pie crust.
  2. Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, until the filling is set and the top is golden.
  3. Remove from the oven and let cool on a wire rack to prevent a soggy bottom.
Serving
  1. Once cooled, slice the pie and serve it plain or with whipped cream.

Notes

For the best flavor, use butter in the crust. You can also substitute spices according to preference.
