  • 1 cup softened butter Make sure it's at room temperature.
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Use good quality vanilla for best flavor.
  • 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour Sifted for best results.
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • as needed Colored sprinkles or festive toppings Optional, for decoration.

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, and powdered sugar until light and fluffy—about 2 to 3 minutes.
  2. Add in the vanilla extract and mix until incorporated.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, beating until well combined.
  5. Chill the dough for about 30 minutes to help maintain cookie shape.
  6. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  7. Roll the chilled dough into small balls (about 1 inch in diameter) and place them on the prepared sheets.
  8. Gently press down with a fork or your fingers, and sprinkle with colorful toppings.
  9. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until slightly underdone in the center.
  10. Allow to cool on the pan for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

Customize these cookies with chocolate chips, nuts, or cinnamon. Store in an airtight container for up to a week.
