Ingredients
  

For the Avocado Mixture
  • 1 large ripe avocado Make sure it's ripe for the best flavor.
  • 1 medium tomato, diced Fresh tomatoes work best.
  • 1 tablespoon red onion, finely chopped Adjust quantity to taste.
  • 1 tablespoon fresh basil, chopped Can substitute with other herbs if desired.
  • 1 clove garlic, minced Adds great flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon lime (or lemon) juice For added freshness.
  • to taste grams salt and pepper Season to your preference.
For the Toast
  • 1 French baguette or Italian bread Can also use other types of bread.
  • as needed tablespoons olive oil For drizzling over the bread.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Slice the baguette into 1/2-inch thick pieces and arrange them on a baking sheet.
  3. Drizzle a bit of olive oil over the bread slices.
  4. Bake for about 5 minutes, or until they’re golden and crisp.
Combine Avocado Mixture
  1. In a bowl, mash the ripe avocado until creamy but still chunky.
  2. Mix in the diced tomato, red onion, minced garlic, fresh basil, lime juice, salt, and pepper.
  3. Stir well and adjust seasoning as needed.
Assembly
  1. Load the toasted bread slices with the avocado mixture generously.
  2. Drizzle with additional olive oil and sprinkle with chili flakes if desired.
Serving
  1. Plate the bruschetta and serve immediately or let guests help themselves.

Notes

For an extra twist, consider adding feta cheese or balsamic vinegar to the mix. Store any leftover avocado mixture in an airtight container for up to one day.
