Ingredients
  

For the pastry
  • 1 package 1 package (2 sheets) of puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 egg 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting (optional) For serving
For the filling
  • 2 cups 2 cups of Granny Smith apples, peeled and diced
  • 1/2 cup 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the diced apples, sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice. Toss until the apples are well-coated.
  3. Roll out the puff pastry sheets on a lightly floured surface and cut them into squares, about 4 inches on each side.
  4. Place a generous spoonful of the apple mixture into the center of each square. Fold the pastry over to create a triangle or rectangle and crimp the edges with a fork to seal.
Baking
  1. Place the Apple Slippers on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush the tops with the beaten egg.
  2. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
  3. Let them cool slightly before dusting with powdered sugar.

Notes

These treats can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days. Reheat to revive freshness. For variations, consider using canned apple pie filling if short on time.
